John D. Frost was born in Rensselaerville on December 22, 1828, the son of Caleb Frost and Miriam Drake.[1]

He was a farmer.

He married Mary J. Mahem on November 29, 1854 and one child:[1]
- Mary J. Frost b. Nov. 2, 1858, married Herbert Alger[1]
He married secondly, Phebe E., born October 12, 1826, a daughter of James Sheldon and Anna Mead. [1]
By his second wife, he had:
- James Sheldon Frost, b. Dec 1, 1864.[1]
Death
He died on May 3, 1908, Phebe died on November 8, 1908[1]
