Birth
Nathaniel Wright was born in Berne on December 13, 1834 to Alvah Wright (B. Mar 25, 1810, D. Mar 5, 1877) and Anna Maria Moak (B. Aug 15, 1817, D. 1906).[1][2][3][4][5] Notes:
- There was another Nathaniel Wright (B. abt 1838, D. Aug 25, 1864), who lived in Albany county, served in the same Regiment and died in 1864 during the war.[6]
- Robert Keating in the Carnival of Blood says that Nathaniel Wright of Berne was the brother of Silas W. Wright of Berne who also fought in the 7th NY Heavy Artillery Regiment. This is incorrect.[7][1]

Life
Nathaniel Wright was born and raised in Berne, and was the eldest of twelve children. In 1850, his father Alvah Wright was a miller but later censuses record him as a laborer and as a farmer. In 1860 the family was living in Middleburgh, Schoharie County, NY, however they had returned to Berne by 1865.
Death
Nathaniel Wright died on February 5, 1865 of diarrhea while a prisoner of war in Salisbury, NC.[6]
