WESTERLO -- Emma 'Mimi' Adele (Rogers) Hannay, 81 years, of Westerlo, NY., passed away suddenly in St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. on April 20, 1997. She was born in Stonybrook, NY. on September 10, 1915, daughter of the late Herman and Grace (Jones) Rogers. 'Mimi' was a former Latin and French Teacher having last taught in East Springfield, NY. She had a great love of her church, the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, being the first President of the M.B.I. Guild and a Sunday School Teacher for several years. She was also very active in the Mission Ministry of her church. Her love of children was well known and she was also an avid 'doer' of the New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, George Hannay; her devoted children, Roger Hannay and his wife, Sherley of Westerlo, NY., David Hannay and his wife, Margaret of Westerlo, NY., Deborah VanDerMolen and her husband, Edward of Wheaton, IL., Ruth Hannay of Westerlo, NY, and Sarah Schoof and her husband, Ronald of Kenya, East Africa; also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lorraine Hannay, a brother, John Rogers and a sister, Ruth Rogers. Funeral service, with Rev. Donald Lyon officiating, will be Wednesday 7 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Westerlo in Westerlo, NY. Spring interment will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute, in her memory, to the First Baptist Church of Westerlo Mission Fund, P.O. Box 130 Westerlo, NY. 12193. Arrangements are by the CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Greenville, NY.
