Coleman Armstrong was born in Knox on March 22, 1837, the son of James Armstrong (1811-1884) and Sarah Tygert (1815-1854).

Coleman married Elmina Chesebro, and had one child, Mary Armstrong, who was baptized in 1862. Mary Armstrong married Elias Babcock.

Coleman died February 26, 1871.
