Birth
Viola S. Snyder was born August 28, 1922, in Westerlo to Walter Leslie Snyder and Christina Messer.
Education
She was a graduate of Greenville Central School in nearby Greene County and Oneonta State Teachers College.
Occupation
Viola was a teacher and retired from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School in 1979 following a 34 year career.
Marriage & Children
Viola married Amos Edward Hallenbeck, a son of Edward J. Hallenbeck and Ann Mae Bates. They had three children:

- Joanne Hallenbeck
- Richard Hallenbeck
Death
Viola died July 22, 1994, in Westerlo at 71 years of age. She was buried in Westerlo Rural Cemetery.
Obituary
WESTERLO Viola S. Hallenbeck, 71, of Westerlo died Friday in her home. Mrs. Hallenbeck was born in Westerlo and was a graduate of the Greenville Central School and Oneonta State Teachers College. She retired in 1979 from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District after teaching for 34 years. Mrs. Hallenbeck was a member of the Berne Order of the Eastern Star and the Voorheesville American Legion Post Auxiliary 1493. Survivors include her husband, Amos E. Hallenbeck Sr.; a daughter, Joanne Lounsbury of Westerlo; two sons, Amos E. Hallenbeck Jr. of Virginia Bea ch, Va., and Richard H. Hallenbeck of Voorheesville; three sisters, Mary Tallman Tompkins of Dormansville, Anna Kuhar of Rensselaerville and Catherine Latham of Westerlo; four brothers, George Snyder, Frederic Snyder and Robert Snyder, all of Westerlo, and Henry Snyder of Albany; and seven grand children and a great-grandson. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, with burial in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Westerlo Reformed Church or the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.
