James Henry Gallup was born in Knox on May 14, 1833 a son of Gurdon Gallup (son of General John Gallup) and Eve Haverly[1]

James married Martha Briggs who was born on October 3, 1833 on February 28, 1873 and moved to Bethlehem, Albany Co., NY. They had one daughter, Ada Gallup, who was born in July of 1876.
