Obituary
OBITUARY.
Treat D. Young died at his home in Schenevus, Monday, May 25th, after a brief attack of peritonitis. Saturday forenoon, May 23rd, while at work on the second story of a frame building at Worcester, he fell twenty two feet and struck on the ground. He was unconscious for a time, but finally rallied. The Worcester physicians were called and found no bones broken, but they feared internal injury. He rallied sufficiently to be brought to his home in the afternoon and seemed to do well until Monday when peritonitis developed and be died that evening.
Young was born in Summit, about 73 years ago. He enlisted early during the war and was a member of Co. I of the well known 121st Reg. He was a brave and good soldier and shared the hardships of his regiment. He was taken prisoner and confined in Andersonville prison for six months and endured all the deprivations and cruelties incident to Such a terrible institution. His health was very much impaired; in fact he never fully recovered from that awful experience.
In early manhood he was united in marriage to Miss Sophronia A. Lane. They have been blessed with a happy home over fifty years. They have one daughter, Edith, who married M. W. Becker of Berne, and one son, Frank S., who is on the police force in Hartford, Conn. He was a good citizen, an active and consistent member of the M. E. church, where he will be greatly missed. He was a kind husband and father, therefore he was thoroughly devoted to his home. Mrs. Young and her son and daughter have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
Funeral services were held at his late home Wednesday at 4 o'clock. His pastor. Rev. E. Kilpatrick, conducted the services. Burial took place Thursday morning at Knox, were Mr. Young and his son-in-law, Mr. Becker, have joint lot.
