Francis A. Landauer was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Philadelphia, the son of August Landauer and Albertine Landauer. His siblings were:

Francis Landauer started his career as an apprentice toolmaker with General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., and retired 42 years later as a manufacturing engineer with Honeywell Large Information Systems in Phoenix. Mr. Landauer worked as an umpire and referee, and served as president of the New York State Umpires Association for eight years.

Francis A. Landauer died at his home in Flagstaff, on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, with Jane Landauer, his loving wife of 61 years, by his side. He was 84.
Mr. Landauer was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Philadelphia, and later moved to a family farm in Altamont, N.Y. He started his career as an apprentice toolmaker with General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., and retired 42 years later as a manufacturing engineer with Honeywell Large Information Systems in Phoenix.
He will be lovingly remembered as a strong and kind man who always took an interest in the smallest details of his family's lives. He was an active member of his church community, and an avid sports fan. He especially loved the New York Yankees and Arizona State University Sun Devils. Mr. Landauer worked as an umpire and referee, and served as president of the New York State Umpires Association for eight years.
Mr. Landauer is survived by his wife; six children, Kathleen Single (Robert), Dennis Landauer, Susan Knight (Robert), Gregg Landauer (Terri), Joan Olson (Dennis) and Brian Landauer (Joyce); and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Albertine Landauer; and brother Joseph Landauer.
Rosary will be today at 7 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel, 16 W. Cherry Flagstaff. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the San Francisco de Asis-Building Fund, 2257 E. Cedar Ave Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
Arrangements are by Norvel Owens Mortuary.
