BERNE -- Frederick D. Lendrum , 82, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, July 10, 2005.

Mr. Lendrum was born in Berne to the late Daniel and Ada Lendrum. He was a graduate of Berne-Knox High School and Albany Business College. Mr. Lendrum served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. at Okinawa during World War II. Fred then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Berne as a rural letter carrier for 36 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Lendrum, who died in 1989.

He is survived by a son, Steven (Sue) Lendrum of Berne; three daughters, Sharon Nevins of Round Lake, Nancy Lendrum of East Berne and Connie (John) McCarthy of Clarksville; his grandchildren, Ron (Donna) Lendrum of Huntersland, Cheryl Lendrum of Marcellus and Andrew and Stephen McCarthy of Clarksville; great-grandchildren, Heidi Kruse and Heather Lendrum of Huntersland; a brother, Harold Lendrum of Berne; a sister, Marjorie (Ray) Shultes of Berne; his aunt, Lillian Jones of Berne; his dear friend, Janet Platt; also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and James Van Ness and a sister-in-law, Arlene Lendrum.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Helderberg Trail, Berne. Relatives and friends may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne.
