Birth
Omer J. Becker was born August 25, 1887, the son of Leuis Henry Becker and Sarah E. Barton and live up on West Mountain, now known as Becker Pond
Education
Omer attended Bell School until about the 7th grade.
Occupation
In his younger years, Omer picked apples and worked on a hops farm picking hops in Middleburgh when done with the work for the day stayed and squared danced for the evening. He later bought a farm on Switzkill Rd in nearby Berne and became a farmer.
Marriage & Children
Omer married Ada Catherine Shultes, a daughter of Peter Byron Shultes and Margaret Catherine Campbell on November 28, 1917, in the Reformed Church in Berne.
They had six children:
- Frances Ima Becker
- Norma Margarert Becker
- Alton Barton Becker b. 5 Aug. 1931, d. 28 Feb. 1932. Buried Woodlawn Cemetery.
- Maver Omer Becker
- Mavis Ada Becker
- Marvin Ernest Becker.
Death
Omer died in Berne on January 5, 1966, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
