Birth

Josiah Barber was born on July 12, 1839[1].

Marriage & Children

At about 1859 he married Magdeline who was born at about 1843 in Albany County. They had a daughter, Sarah Barber, who was born in 1860 in Albany County. They lived in Middleburgh, Schoharie County in the next household from Josiah Barber and his wife Emeline.[2]

He married Anna M. (--?--) before 1870 in or near the Town of Berne, Albany, NY

At about 1875 he married Mary Wilday who was born at about 1856, a daughter of Cornelius Wilday and Emily Woodcock. They had a son:

  • William Joshua Barber who was born on July 10,1876.

The 61st Infantry was at Gettysburg, PA from July 1, 1863-July 3, 1863. Enlisted as a private in the 61st Reg. in August of 1862, served 18 months, discharged, health permanently impaired, with other wounds, loss of right eye[4]
