BERNE — Sarah Weidman Bassler, 91, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001.
She was born in Berne and was a lifelong resident. Sarah was a talented seamstress, and her family will always treasure her hand-sewn crafts. She was famous for growing African violets and still tended her many flower gardens every year.
Survivors include a two daughters, Eleanor Bassler of Palo Alto, Calif., Ruth (Mrs. R. Timothy) Lomasney of Gales Ferry, Conn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred Peter and Janice Bassler of Berne; a daughter-in-law, Chrystal Bassler, of Berne; six grandchildren: Terrice Bassler of Capetown, South Africa, Debra Bajouwa of Michigan, Mark and Gary Lomasney of Connecticut, Sharon Forman of Altamont and James Lyon of Ballston Spa; and six great-grandchildren: Sarah, Abigail, Joseph, Megan, Anthony and Clea.
