Obituary

As published in the Altamont Enterprise October 6, 1899

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1899, Mr. Isaac Deitz passed from this earth in the 90th year of his age. His face has been a familiar one to three generations. He lived upon his farm, about three miles south of the village, until after the death of his wife, which occurred about six years ago. Since that time his home has been with his son, Mr. C.E. Deitz; and the care of his declining years has been most patient and faithful. Mr. Deitz was of Holland Dutch descent, and he was distinguished by many of the strong characteristics of that nation. He was a man of keen business instincts, and so successfully managed the various enterprises in which he was enterested, that he amassed a very comfortable fortune. His sound judgement and intelligent comprehension of affairs made his advice a thing to be sought and valued. He was a true and staunch friend, always reliable, always straight-forward. The funeral service was held in the Lutheran church, of which he was a member, on Friday, Rev. J. Kling officiating. He is survived by his son and grandchildren
