Mr. Ostrander served with the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II. He worked as a machinist at the General Electric Company in Schenectady for 44 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church, and past president of the Plankroaders Association. Recently he became a member of the Old Men of the Mountain. KNOX -- Frank L. Ostrander, 81, died Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a short illness. Born in Knox, Frank was a lifelong resident. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the European Theatre during World War II. He worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a machinist for 44 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church and was a member and past president of the Plankroaders Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Greta R. Ostrander in 1988. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Stevens of Altamont; one son, Jerry Ostrander and his wife, Gail of Guilderland; two sisters, Ethel Bassler of Rotterdam and Florence Smith of Guilderland; two grandchildren, Thomas M. Stevens of Altamont and Tanya L. Stevens of Guilderland; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alva, Steve and William Ostrander and one sister, Lena Ostrander. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam.
