John I. Landauer was born March 5, 1960, he was raised on the Landauer family farm in Knox, where he spent many days working with his father and six siblings. He was the son of Anthony (Joe) Landauer and Shirley Schanz. His siblings were:

He died on Thursday, June 28, 2012, with his loving family by his side. He was 52. “John will be dearly missed by his family and many close friends,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was a very hardworking man who held many jobs throughout his lifetime.”
Born March 5, 1960, he was raised on the Landauer family farm in Knox, where he spent many days working with his father and six siblings. “John loved the outdoors, and gatherings with his family and friends to celebrate all of life’s enjoyments,” his family wrote. “John was a free spirit; he had no fear, and enjoyed life to its fullest.”
Mr. Landauer is survived by his mother, Shirley (Schanz) Landauer, and five siblings: Judith Stinson and her husband, Douglas, of Holder, Fla.; August J. Landauer of Knox; Joel P. Landauer and his wife, Bonnie, of Gallupville; Jacquelyn L. Hallock and her husband, Clyde, of Lacanto, Fla.; and James A. Landauer and his wife, Laura, of Gallupville.
Also surviving are four children: Matthew J. Landauer of Berne. Carla (Landauer) Peabody of Waterford; Joshua Landauer of Mt. Upton; and Tiffany Landauer of Sherburn, N.Y. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Caden Peabody of Waterford, and Jayden Thomsen of Sherburn; his uncles: Dave Schanz and his wife, Dianne, of Berne; and Charles Landauer, of New Mexico.
Mr. Landauer is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His father, Anthony (Joe) Landauer, died before him, as did his brother, Joseph Landauer.
