Knox--Robert Clinton VanAuken, 53, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Albany, son of Olive and the late Harry VanAuken. A graduate of Guilderland High School, he lived in Altamont and Knox for most of his life. He was a foreman for the Albany County Highway Department for over 30 years. Mr. VanAuken was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Boyd Hilton Post 7062, Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his mother, survivors include Barbara Langlois VanAuken, his wife of 33 years; two sons and a sister-in-law, Robert (Skip) and Nicole VanAuken and Michael VanAuken, all of Knox; five brothers: Allen, Clifford, Thomas, and Terry VanAuken, all of Altamont; and William VanAuken of Tempe, Arizona. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helderberg Ambulance Squad, PO Box 56, Altamont, NY 12009.
