Birth

Henry Post was born August 29, 1839 in Wright, Schoharie County, NY to John J. Post (B. Aug 3, 1798, D. May 3, 1848) and Maria Ecker (B. Jan 24, 1802, D. Jan 18, 1864).[1] He was one of seven children.[1]

Marriage & Children

Henry married a woman named Emma C. They had at least one child, John Post who died on July 30, 1881 of scarlet fever at aged 7 years 9 months.[2]

Life

In 1855 Henry at the age of 15 years was working as a farm laborer for Henry William Weidman (B. Sept 29, 1820, D. Apr 29, 1900) and his wife Elizabeth Cass (B. Oct 16, 1823, D. Mar 22, 1905) in Berne, Albany County, NY.[3]

Later in life Henry lived in Covington, Tioga County, Pa.[4] While living there he was a member of the GAR General Mansfield Post No. 48."[5]

Henry Post died before December 1, 1890 when his wife Emma applied for his Civil War Pension.[4]
