Birth
Maria Truax was born 17 Apr 1809[1] in Guilderland, Albany Co, NY, the 9th child of Jacob Willem Truax, b. 1761, and Ana Barbara Bell, b. abt 1767. Maria's Truax family goes back six generations to the emigrant Philippe De Trieux who is much of record under the Dutch on early Manhattan Island, as are some of his children and his sons-in-law.

Lydia Trask & Moses Trask her husband of Mass & Edmund Stafford & Rena Stafford his wife of Knox N. Y. & Sarah Wensley & James Wensley her husband of Watervliet N. Y. Anna B. Thompson of Albany N. Y. and Chauncy M. Stafford of Knox N. Y. & Emma A. Wensley & William Wensley her husband of Albany N. Y. & Silas Stafford of North Roads N. Y. Almira Stafford his wife & Balinda Deoor & David Deoor her husband of Knox N. Y. Etta Ashworth & Richard Ashworth Jr. her husband of Cohoes N. Y., parties of the first part, and John T. Stafford of the town of Guilderland Albany Co. N. Y., party of the second part. Witnesseth, That the said parties of the first part, in consideration of the sum of One dollar and other valuable considerations in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged, (ha)? bargaining, sold remised and Quit Claimed, and by these presents, do bargain, sell, remise and Quit claim unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever, all that certain piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the town of Knox County & State aforesaid known and described as being a lot of land formerly owned by Henry L. Van Anken and at the time of her death owned by Maria Stafford the mother of the parties of the first part herein mentioned as will appear by deed to her recorded in Albany County Clerk's office Sept 16, 1882 Book No. 344 of Deeds page 156 & bounded as follows: Commencing on the west side of a Brook running past the dwelling of Stephen Kernholts & said Brook running a North westerly course Emptying into the Booze Kill said land bounded by said Creek mention by the upper edge of its west bank & on the west & north by the Edge of a Ravine through through which the Spooke Hollow Creek runs on the South & East Boundary along the Township Road passing the premises of Stephen Kernholts said lot embracing all the Cleared land and as such now occupied South & East of Spooke Hollow Creek upon the Edge of a Ravine through which said Creed Runs & upon the West Bank of said stream aforesaid Mentioned passing the Dwelling of Stephen Kernholts said lot piece or parcel of land comprising about three acres of land be the Same, more or less, reserving into Charles Chesbro & Frederick Crounce Jr. right to cross the West end of said lot during those seasons of the year & in such a manner as not materially to injure the aforesaid premises. And also reserving that certain parcel of land sold to Edmund Stafford from the Easterly end of said lot during the year 1883 or 1884 together with all any and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remander and remander, rents, issue, profits thereof and all the estate, right, title, interest, Claim and demand whatsoever, of the said parties of the first part, either in law or equity, of, in and to the above bargained promises, with the said hereditaments and appurtenances, to have to hold the said above described premises to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, to the sale and only proper benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever.
