Ellen F. Thomsen was born October 5, 1905, in Persia, Iowa, daughter of the late Fritz and Minnie Lassen Thomsen. She had seven brothers and sister.

Ellen F. Felgentreff, 91, formerly of Guilderland Center, died Dec 13, 1997 in Bradenton,Fla.

She was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Persia, Iowa, daughter of the late Fritz and Minnie Lassen Thomsen, and attended school there. In the early 1920s she married, John H. Felgentreff. The couple farmed near Avoca and Shelby, Iowa.

In 1942, she and her husband moved to New Scotland, later to Guilderland Center, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Guilderland Center Fire Department. In 1968, they retired to Bradenton. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Survivors include four daughters, Loretta Flanders of Bradenton, Phyllis Mattice of Albany, JennyLee Carman of Virginia Beach, Va., and Marilyn Cannon of Binghamton, a son, Raymond Felgentreff of Delmar, 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.

Her husband died July 3, 1977, after more than 50 years of marriage. A son, John L. Felgentreff, and seven brothers and sisters are also deceased. Graveside services were held Dec. 18 in Shelby Cemetery in Shelby.

Raymond L. Felgentreff

DELMAR — Raymond L. Felgentreff, 77, died on March 18, 2002, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Felgentreff was for many years a truck driver for the F.F. Crannell Lumber Company in Delmar. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Delmar, the Delmar 2nd, Milers, Elsmere Rod and Gun Club, and Guilderland Elks

Mr. Felgentreff was a devoted volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Elsmere Fire Company A., Albany County V.F.A., Hudson- Mohawk V.F.A. FASNY. He most recently received the 50 Years of Volunteer Service Award.

He was also an avid sportsman and camper.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Mason Felgentreff; his daughter, Darlene Wilson of Feura Bush; Loretta Flanders of Jonesborough, Tenn., Phyllis Mattice of Albany, Jenny Lee Carman of Virginia Beach, Va., and Marilyn Canon of Binghamton, N.Y. His brother, John (Happy) Felgentreff, died before him.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar, NY 12054. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Arrangements are by Durant Funeral Home in Glenmont.

NAVY PROMOTION

Robert W. Carman, son of Mr. and Mrs Burton A. Carman of Guilderland Center, was recently appointed to the Grade E-9 Master Chief in the U. S. Navy. Chief Carman resides ln Norfolk, Va., with his wife, the former Jennylee Felgentreff, and his three children He is an instructor at the Portsmouth, Va, Electronic school.

Burton John Carman

ALTAMONT—Burton John (Jack) Carman, a World War II veteran, worked as an engineering designer at the Watervliet Arsenal. He was deeply involved in local community affairs.

He died on Monday, Oct. 14, 2002.

Born in Schenectady, July 31, 1927, Mr. Carman was the son of the late Burton A. and Mary Kerley Carman.

He served on the U.S.S. Yorktown during World War II. He worked as an engineering designer at Benet Lab at the Watervliet Arsenal for 33 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a coach for the Altamont Little League and a member of the Guilderland School Board for nine years, acting as its president for the last three years.

He was a 53-year member of the Helderberg Reformed Church of Guilderland Center and its property chairman. He was a past master and 50 year member of Noah Lodge No. 754 F&AM. He was a life member of Gifford Grange; a member of the U.S.S. Yorktown CV-10 Association, The American Legion, and the Pinehaven Country Club; and a volunteer with the Guilderland Center Fire Department.

He married Shirley Anthony, who survives him, on July 2, 1949. He is also survived by his daughter, Candace Weeks and her husband, Richard, of New Vernon, N.J.; his son, Bruce, and his wife, Noreen, of Pittstown; N.Y.; and his daughter Sue Luyet and her husband, Francois, of Haiku, Maui and Geneva, Switzerland.

He also leaves six grandchildren: Nicholas and Jonathan Carman; Eric Magill; Alexandra, Katherine, and Matthew Weeks; three greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of Robert Carman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Richard Carman of Guilderland Center; and William Carman of Berne. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Helderberg Reformed Church, Route 146, Guilderland Center. Arrangements are by Fredendall Funeral Home of Altamont.
