In early life Henry was a farmer, but the greater part of his life was spent at coopering, residing all his life at Berne. Henry C. Warner's first wife was Lena, daughter of Andrew Batcher (Andreas Boettcher) of Knox. Jacob A. Warner's siblings were:

Christopher Warner, his great grandfather, was a native of Germany, came to America with his two brothers, and settled in the town of Berne, taking up land around what is now known as Warner's Lake.
