William J. Truax was born October 20, 1865, in Knox, NY, the son of William Mathias Truax (March 12, 1828 - February 13, 1911) and Mary Margaret West. His brothers sisters were:

- Ella Truax (December 1859 - After 1936) married Edgar Zimmer
- Walter S. Truax (June 28, 1962 - June 28, 1946) married first Charlotte Wolford ( - October 20, 1910), second Fannie Williman Jones (Johnes)

Marriage & Children
William J. Truax married Elva Haverly (November 7, 1864 - December 3, 1950) on December 22, 1887. Elva Haverly was the daughter of Josiah Haverly (February 28, 1918 - December 12, 1898) and Esther Saddlemire (December 16, 1821 - July 14, 1908). Their children were:
- Olive Margaret Truax ( - May 3, 1971) married LeRoy A. Crounse ( - April 4, 1975) of Altamont
- Ethel Martha Truax (December 5, 1890 - July 2, 1972) married Schuyler M. LaGrange ( - December 19, 1948) of Guilderland Center and Schenectady.
- Agnes Esther Truax (June 23, 1895 - February 23, 1984) Unmarried
Death
William J. Truax died March 26, 1944 in Schenectady.
Obituary
William J. Truax William J. Truax, 79, a retired farmer, died yesterday at his home, 615 McClellan street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Fredendall funeral home, Altamont, and burial will be in Knox cemetery. Mr. Truax was the father of Miss Agnes Truax, librarian at Nott Terrace High school. He was born in the Town of Knox, Albany county, Oct. 20, 1865, the son of William M. and Margaret West Truax. He was a resident of Delmar for 26 years during which he was an elder in the Delmar Reformed church. Mr. Truax had resided in Schenectady for the past three, years. Other survivors include his wife, the former Elva Haverly; two daughters, Mrs. Schuyler LaGrange and Mrs. Leroy Crounse; a brother, Walter Truax, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Zimmer.
