Birth
Merritt William Tallman was born on July 3, 1855, in Huntersland. He was the tenth of twelve children born to Jonathan Tallman and Caroline Bouton.
Marriage & Children
On December 2, 1884, Merritt married Jannis E. Eldridge, a daughter of Rial Eldridge and Phebe Jones. After their marriage they lived in Schoharie County and then moved to Westerlo. They had one child:
- Ivan Velmore Tallman (1888-1931)
Occupation
When he was young he worked on his father's farm. In 1880, when he was 25 years old, he was a teacher but it is unknown exactly where he was teaching. He had a poultry farm while living in Westerlo, and was a Justice of the Peace and had a route he traveled on a regular basis where he preformed marriages.
Death
Merritt died on March 20, 1922, in Westerlo, at 66 years of age. He was buried in Westerlo Central Cemetery in Westerlo.
