Joyce E. Moons received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N.J. and was a registered nurse. She then was married and raised a family as a homemaker for the rest of her life.

Joyce E. Moons married Robert H. Moons, of Knox in 1960. Their children were:
- Robert S. and Patricia Moons of Oxnard, Calif.
- William R. and Dawn Moons of East Berne
- John D. and Bernice Moons of East Berne

Joyce E. Moons
KNOX — Joyce E. Moons, a nurse and a homemaker, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She was 74. “She slipped peacefully into the Lord’s hands at St. Peter’s Hospital” in Albany, her family wrote in a tribute. “Joyce courageously fought illnesses and overcame adversity for many years.”
Born in Cranford, N.J., she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N.J. and was a registered nurse. She then was married and raised a family as a homemaker for the rest of her life.
“She enjoyed working in the greenhouse, garden, making her famous pickles, and selling fresh vegetables and baked goods at her roadside stand,” her family wrote. “She loved the outdoors, cruises to the Alaskan tundra, and has even visited places like Siberia, Mexico, Florida, and the Southwest. Garage sales were always a place for her to find treasures. She loved to read books and spend time with family and friends.”
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert H. Moons, of Knox; three sons, Robert S. and Patricia Moons of Oxnard, Calif., William R. and Dawn Moons of East Berne, and John D. and Bernice Moons of East Berne; and grandchildren Matthew and Jacob Moons of Oxnard, Calif., and Ila Kochan of East Berne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, May 19, at St. Lucy’s / St. Bernadette’s Church in Altamont. Friends may call on Friday, May 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont.
