The West Berne reformed church was the scene of a wedding Saturday afternoon when Barbara Traver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Traver of South Berne, and James H. Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Snyder of Berne, were united in marriage by the Rev. S. William Duitsman with the double ring ceremony. ...Milton Hart, Jr., was best man and ushers were Jack Traver, brother of the bride, Warren Carl and Howard Stalker, all of Berne. Mr. Snyder, who is in the U. S. service, recently returned from Trinidad. He was married in his uniform. He will be stationed in Quanset, R. I.

James H. Snyder was in the U.S. Navy four years serving in the Korean War.

James Snyder was employed at the Voorheesville Army Depot for some time and ran a barbershop in his home. He served as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Albany from 1964 until poor health forced his retirement last fall.

JAMES H. SNYDER

Sympathy of many friends is extended to the family of James H. Snyder who died at his Helderberg Trail home Wednesday evening February 2, 1983 after a long illness.

Born November 30, 1929 Jimmy Snyder was the son of James C. and Ethel Snyder. After his graduation from Berne-Knox High School where he was active in sports. He married Barbara Ann Traver in 1950: He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and was in the U.S. Navy four years serving in the Korean War. He was employed at the Voorheesville Army Depot for some time and ran a barbershop in his home. He served as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Albany from 1964 until1 poor health forced his retirement last fall. He was a member of the Berne Reformed Church and' of Berne Lodge #684 F.&.A.M. Survivors include his wife and one son Michael James Snyder of Berne; his parents and one brother Mitchell L. Snyder; and also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Fredendall Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Bearers were Amos Hallenbeck, Milton Hart, Patrick Lounsbury, Ron Slingerland, Howard Stalker, Mike Vincent, Henry Warchol and Charles Wickham. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions were made to the Berne Ambulance Fund.
