Leo was a life-long resident of this area and served several years as a business clerk at the Berne-Knox Central School. Later he worked at General Electric during the war years and then with Klersy Builders in Delmar. After his retirement he continued parttime work as a carpenter with his son-in-law.Pete Bassler.

Leo's daughter Diane designed the program "A Celebration of the Fulfillment of Life for Our Friend Leo N, LeBuis," and the music was provided by his brother Wilfrid and his daughters Marlene and Charis. Tributes to their father were written by his son Robert and daughter Charis and read at the service. His granddaughter Debbie Bassler created many of the floral arrangements and pall-bearers were six grandsons: Jeff,, Joe, and, Jerry LeBuis, Dean and Ross Haskin, and Mark Boomhower.
