Joseph was born in Berne on August 24, 1923, a son of Alva and Mary Hill.
Education
Joseph Robert graduated from Berne-Knox High School in 1942. He earned his bachelor's degree from Siena in 1950. He later earned the master's degree of English letters from Oxford University, England, and his master's in education from SUNY at Albany.
Marriage and Children
Mr. Hill married Mary and had a daughter Mary.
Occupation
He served for some time as principal of an American School in Fairford near Oxford, England, and retired from Shaker High School where he served as English coordinator and high school teacher.
Military Service
Joseph Robert served in World War II.
Death
Joseph died on August 12, 1992 and was buried at the Gallupville Rural Cemetery in Schoharie County, NY

Welcome back to Berne Joe-Bobbie Hill. Joseph Robert Hill and his wife Mary have moved into the George Willsey house on Helderberg Trail after the Todd Fischer family moved out to their new home in Ballston. Bobby was born the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Hill here in 1923; Mr. Hill was the town barber in the shop beside the creek near the mill (a building long since gone), and Mrs. Hill made delicious candy for sales. A 1942 graduate of the Berne-Knox High School Bobby served in World War II to "help defeat Hitler," and earned his bachelor's degree from Siena in 1950. He later earned the master's degree of English letters from Oxford University, England, and his master's in education from SUNY at Albany. He served for some time as principal of an American School in Fairford near Oxford, England, and retired from Shaker High School where he served as English coordinator and high school teacher. Last year he traveled to Greece and through Europe. Mrs. Hill has retired from her work with Bell Computer Systems. They have one daughter, Mary, who lives in New York City.
