Birth
Lewis L. Brate was born on August 18, 1816 (1826[1]) in Westerlo to Martin Brate and Elizabeth Albright who was the daughter of Jacob Albright and Hannah Arnold.
Marriage & Children
On September 5, 1846 at the Union Dutch Reformed Church, Unionville, Albany, New York[2], Lewis married Lucy Dunbar who was born in January of 1829 and was the daughter of Albert Dunbar.[3] They had one child, Hiram Brate (B. May 11, 1848, D. Dec 8, 1862).[3]

Death
Lewis' wife Lucy died on April 6, 1878 and she was buried at the Dunbar Farm Burying Ground in Dormansville, Albany County, NY.[3] This is where their son Hiram had been buried in 1862.[3]
