At the time of his death, he was employed by the Albany Pork Store in Schenectady. During 1985, he worked as a custodian in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School.

EAST BERNE - Philip P. Buffa Sr., 59, of Adams Road, an East Berne resident since 1985, died May 7 (1989) at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness.
Mr. Buffa was born in Brooklyn and served in the Army during the Korean War, He worked as a meat cutter for the Food. Fair stores oh Long Island for many years before moving to East Berne.
At the time of his death, he was employed by the Albany Pork Store in Schenectady. During 1985, he worked as a custodian in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School. A member of the Knights of Columbus in Brentwood, Suffolk County, Mr. Buffa was a member of the Lady of Fatima General Assembly and a fourth degree knight of the Bishop's Color Guard.
He was also a member of both the Knox Volunteer Fire Department and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union and a former Republican committeeman in the Town of Islip (Suffolk Co.).
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Buffa; one son, Philip P. Buffa Jr. of Washington, DC; one daughter, Margie A, Saddlemire of Knox; one sister, Mary Micca of Oceanside (Nassau Co.); and two grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday, May 10, in St. Lucy's Roman Catholic' Church, Grand Street, Altamont, and burial will be in Knox Cemetery, Knox.
Arrangements, were by Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. ^ Contributions may be made to St. Lucy's Food Pantry, Altamont.

Barbara M. Buff a ALTAMONT — Barbara M. Buffa, a former professional chef and lover of bingo, died Saturday, June 4, 2005.
Mrs. Buffa was 73.
She was a chef for the Seaside Inn in Sag Harbor on Long Island for 10 years. She then moved with her husband, Philip Buffa Sr., to Berne. Mr. Buffa died in 1989.
Mrs. Buffa moved to be closer to her daughter, Margery Saddlemire, who is a resident of Knox.
Mrs. Buffa was a homemaker and also worked as a chef at the Home Front Cafe in Altamont. After her husband died, Mrs. Buffa moved to Altamont.
Mrs. Saddlemire said that German food was her mother s specialty. "She really was a good cook," Saddlemire said. "She would cook Italian dishes for the family. She kept us well fed." Mrs. Buffa also enjoyed playing bingo.
"She was a bingo queen," Mrs. Saddlemire said. Mrs. Buffa is survived by a son, Philip P. Buffa Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Owings, Md. and by her daughter, Margery Saddlemire, and her husband, Ken, of Knox.
Mrs. Buffa is also survived by grandchildren Amanda Buffa, Ashley Buffa, Kristi Buffa, and Philip P. Buffa III as well as Daniel E. Saddlemire and Jacqueline R. Saddlemire.
Mrs. Buffa is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church in Altamont.
Arrangements 'are by the Fredendall Funeral Home of Altamont. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery.

ALTAMONT -- Barbara M. Buffa, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005. She was the wife of the late Philip P. Buffa Sr., who died in 1989.
She was the beloved mother of Philip P. (Sara) Buffa Jr. of Owings, Md. and Margery (Ken) Saddlemire of Knox, N.Y.; grandmother of Kristi, Amanda, Ashley and Philip P. Buffa III and Daniel E. and Jacqueline R. Saddlemire. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Grand St., Altamont. Friends may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions to the Altamont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 56, Altamont, NY 12009.
