Robert was born about 1948 in Albany, New York to Harry and Olive VanAuken.[1]

Knox--Robert Clinton VanAuken, 53, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Albany, son of Olive and the late Harry VanAuken. A graduate of Guilderland High School, he lived in Altamont and Knox for most of his life. He was a foreman for the Albany County Highway Department for over 30 years. Mr. VanAuken was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Boyd Hilton Post 7062, Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his mother, survivors include Barbara Langlois VanAuken, his wife of 33 years; two sons and a sister-in-law, Robert (Skip) and Nicole VanAuken and Michael VanAuken, all of Knox; five brothers: Allen, Clifford, Thomas, and Terry VanAuken, all of Altamont; and William VanAuken of Tempe, Arizona. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helderberg Ambulance Squad, PO Box 56, Altamont, NY 12009.

KNOX -- Robert Clinton VanAuken, 53, died Sunday, February 18, 2001 at his home after a long illness. Mr. VanAuken was born in Albany, the son of Olive and the late Harry VanAuken. He was a graduate of Guilderland High School and lived in Altamont and Knox for most of his life. He was a foreman for Albany County Highway Department for over 30 years. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Boyd-Hilton VFW Post #7062 in Altamont. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Langlois VanAuken; two sons, Robert (Skip) VanAuken and his wife, Nicole and Michael VanAuken, all of Knox; five brothers, Allen, Clifford, Thomas and Terry VanAuken, all of Altamont and William VanAuken of Tempe, AZ. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
