Amos Whipple was born on June 22, 1797 at Knox, a son of Malachi Whipple and Priscilla Brown.

He married at about 1820 Maria Pinckney who was born at about 1800, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Pinckney. They had the following known children:
