Birth

Howard A. Bassler was born Thursday August 24, 1899 the son of Charles D. Bassler and Elsie Schoonmaker. His siblings were:

  • Olin Bassler - Olin S. Bassler, Berne - Olin S. Bassler (1901 – 1975)

Howard Bassler was a lifelong resident of West Berne and he operated a milk route while working on the family farm in Berne and in later years was a maintenance worker at Thacher Park.

Obituary

HOWARD BASSLER

Howard A. Bassler died Friday, Sept. 19, (1986) at the Hallmark Nursing Home in Schenectady where he and his wife had been patients for over six years.

A lifelong resident of West Berne he operated a milk route while working on the family farm in Berne and in later years was a maintenance worker at Thacher Park.

He was a member of Berne Lodge 684 F&AM, which conducted a memorial service Sunday evening at the funeral home. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Berne Conservation. He was a member of the former Beaverdam Reformed Church in West Berne.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn; a son, Charles of Warner's Lake; a daughter, Phyllis A Frisbee of Voorheesville; a sister, Clara Hatcher of Selkirk; a brother, Peter of Berne; five grandchildren — Gregory Bassler of Corvallis, Ore., Nadine Bassler, Darrin Bassler, and Holly Bassler, all of East Berne and Bill Frisbee of Voorheesville; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Danny Bassler of Oregon.

Services were Monday from the Fredendall Funeral Home with Rev. Adrian Gray of Schenectady officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Berne Ambulance Fund.
