He was adopted and brought up by his grand parents, SOLOMON and CATHARINE WOOD, and therefore took the name of Wood.  He enlisted, December 16, 1862, in Company C, One Hundred and Seventy-seventh New York Regiment.  He was in General BANKS’ expedition at New Orleans.  He died of consumption, August 7, 1863.
