Ezra Weisgarver was born in Berne, Albany County, NY in about 1842.<ref name="Carnival">Keating, Robert, [[Carnival of Blood]]: The Civil War Ordeal of the Seventh New York Heavy Artillery, Published by Butternut and Blue, Baltimore, Md 1998</ref> Actual date: August 13, 1837. He was christened at the Reformed Dutch Church at Beaverdam on October 14, 1837. His surname was often misspelled and one of the spellings used was Weisgarber.<ref name="Carnival"/> He was the son of [[Jacob Weisgarver]] (B. Sept 23, 1787, D. bef 1850) and Maria Ecker (B. Oct 16, 1794, D. unk), and was the youngest of ten children.<ref name="Bernehistory">Bernehistory.org</ref>

Ezra married Amelia____ who was born at about 1839 at about 1859 or 1860.

Ezra began to have problems with his health in the late 1880s and applied for pension on 18 Oct 1887.<ref name="Pension"/> He suffered from neuralgia.<ref>1890 Veterans Schedule</ref>

==Death==
Ezra Weisgarver died on April 21, 1909.<ref name="Bernehistory"/> He is buried in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. On May 13, 1909, his widow applied for his Civil War pension.<ref name="Pension"/>
