Abraham Talmadge was born in Westerlo<ref name="1840 Census, Westerlo">1840 Census, Westerlo, Albany Co., NY</ref>, Albany Co., NY on June 27, 1840, a son of Jonathan<ref name="Town and City Registers">Town and City Registers of Men Who Served in the Civil War</ref> and Margaret<ref name="1850 Census Westerlo">1850 Census, Westerlo, Albany Co., NY</ref> Talmadge.

At about 1863 he married Caroline Irish who was born in 1840 in Westerlo, a daughter of Asa and Sally Irish. They had the following known children:

Caroline died in 1908 at Coeymans, in Albany Co., NY. Abraham died there in 1911. Both were buried at the Hannacroix Cemetery in Albany County, NY.
