==Birth==
Merritt William Tallman was born on July 3, 1855, in [[Huntersland]]. He was the tenth of twelve children born to [[Jonathan Tallman]] and [[Caroline Bouton]].

==Marriage & Children==
On December 2, 1884, Merritt married [[Jannis E. Eldridge]], a daughter of [[Rial Eldridge]] and [[Phebe Jones]]. After their marriage they lived in Schoharie County and then moved to [[Westerlo]]. They had one child:

*[[Ivan Velmore Tallman]] (1888-1931)

==Occupation==
When he was young he worked on his father's farm. In 1880, when he was 25 years old, he was a teacher but it is unknown exactly where he was teaching. He had a poultry farm while living in [[Westerlo]], and was a Justice of the Peace and had a route he traveled on a regular basis where he preformed marriages.

==Death==
Merritt died on March 20, 1922, in [[Westerlo]], at 66 years of age. He was buried in [[Westerlo Central Cemetery]] in [[Westerlo]].
