Silas Sayre Jr. was born on May 3, 1807, in [[Rensselaerville]] to [[Silas Sayre]] and his wife [[Sarah Conger]].&lt;br /&gt;

Silas married [[Nancy Palmer]] (B. 1805 [[Rensselaerville]], D. 1867 or Sept 23, 1895). They were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Oak Hill in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greene_County,_NY Greene County] on October 10, 1826.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;St. Paul's Lutheran Church Records&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;. Their nephew, [[Hercules Sayre]], was also married in this church in 1866.  &lt;br /&gt;

Silas and Nancy had two children;&lt;br /&gt;

Silas was a farmer and a lawyer.  In 1870, he was the Justice of the peace.  In the 1866 Beers Map and in the 1870-71 Gazetteer and Business Directory of Albany and Schenectady Counties, he was also recorded as being a hotel keeper.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Death==&lt;br /&gt;
Silas died about 1880 but the exact year of his death is disputed.  He is said to have died on December 17, 1881 and December 17, 1879.&lt;br /&gt;
He was buried at [[Brookside Cemetery]] in [[Preston Hollow]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
His wife Nancy died September 23, 1895 at 59 years of age.&lt;br /&gt;

Willam began studying law in his early twenties, however he soon after went into the Presbyterian ministry.&lt;br /&gt;

William was a Presbyterian Minister. He first served in southern Columbia and northern Dutchess counties with responsibility for a 40 by 20 mile area. By 1834, he became the minister for the Pine Plains Presbyterian Church in Dutchess county.  He continued in this position for the remainder of his career.&lt;br /&gt;
