 Born March 3, 1912 in Knox, the son of the late Frank and Edith Quay, Mr. Quay was a life-long resident of the town, which he served for 20 years as a town councilman.
 Mr. Quay worked for the Albany County Highway Department before going to the General Electric Company, where he was a group leader in the powerhouse. He worked at G.E. for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
 He was a member of the Knox Reformed Church, and both an elder and a deacon on the. Consistory. He was a member of the Knox Historical Society, and a charter member and first president of the Knox Volunteer Fire Department.
 Survivors include his wife, Virginia Nobles Quay; four daughters — Sandra Quay of Altamont; Judith Conklin and Cynthia Quay, both of Knox, and Winona Quay of Clifton Park; one son, Roger E. Quay of Lowville (Lewis Co.), one sister, Eleanor Wright of Schenectady; eight grandchildren.— Stefanie and Adam Conklin, Matthew and Kelly Quay, Richard, Jeffrey, Daniel and Victoria Quay; and several cousin.
 He had three brothers, the late Lloyd, Harold and Edward Quay.
 Services Will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Knox Reformed Church, Route 158. Friends may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, l99 Main St., Altamont, between 6 and 9 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery.
 Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the Knox Reformed Church, Knox, NY 12107.

 KNOX Herbert Quay, 82, of Knox Cave Road died Tuesday in St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a long illness. He was born in Knox. Mr. Quay worked for the General Electric Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1974 as a group leader in a powerhouse. Many years ago, he worked for the Albany County Highway Department. He was a town councilman for 20 years, and a member of the Knox Historical Society. He was a charter member and the first president of the Knox Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and Belgium. He was an elder and deacon of the Knox Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Nobles Quay; four daughters, Winona Quay of Clifton Park, Sandra Quay of Altamont, and Judith Conklin and Cynthia Quay, both of Knox; a son, Roger E. Quay of Lowville, Lewis County; a sister, Eleanor Wright of Schenectady; and eight grandchildren. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Knox Reformed Church, with burial in Knox Cemetery. Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m. Friday in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the Knox Reformed Church, Knox NY 12107.
