-Peter's Hospice Inn with her family by her side, after a sudden collapse at home on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Janice was the eldest daughter of the late Doris and Leo LeBuis. She was an enthusiast for family and social life and an active member of the Hilltown community. Janice leaves behind her devoted husband of almost 52 years, Fred "Pete" Bassler and her three daughters, Terrice Bassler of Altamont and partner Brad deYoung, Debra Bajouwa and husband Haytham of Berne, and Sharon Forman and husband Scott of Altamont. She is also survived by her beloved grand-daughters, Sarah and Abigail Forman of Altamont. Other survivors include five siblings, Robert LeBuis and wife Roberta of Barneveld, N.Y., Marlene Boomhower and husband Dennis of Westerlo, Donald LeBuis and wife Donna of Mokena, Ill., Charis Cummings and husband Dennis of Wilton, N.Y. and Dennis LeBuis of Selkirk, N.Y. In addition, she is survived by her dear aunt, Margaret Filkins of Westerlo; brother-in-law, Merritt Chamberlain of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 19 nieces and nephews and numerous grandnieces, grand-nephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews and cousins. Janice was predeceased by her granddaughter, Clea Bassler; sister, Diane Chamberlain; grandmother, Nettie S. Filkins; and uncle, Clyde Filkins. The family offers thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Peter's Hospital who provided both outstanding medical treat-ment and comfort during her final days. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Altamont Reformed Church, 129 Lincoln Ave., Altamont. Calling hours will be from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne, N.Y. The family suggests that donations in Janice's memory be made to the Friends of the Berne Library Capital Fund, PO Box 42, Berne, NY 12023 for a new or renovated building. <br>
