Nicholas Brunk was born in the Mohawk Valley, of Holland ancestry and was a descendant from one of five brothers who migrated from Holland and settled along the Mohawk River as pioneers. <ref name="Landmarks of Albany County, New York"> Landmarks of Albany county, New York, Edited by Amasa J.
