Peter Bogardus was born in Berne at about 1842, the son of John and Catherine Bogardus.<ref name="1850 census, Berne, Albany Co., NY">1850 census, Berne</ref>

==Marriage & Children==
Peter married Lucretia Emerson in Elkhart, IL in 1867. Lucretia was born in Ogdensburg, NY on February 28, 1846 and died on or about June 10, 1904 at Eldorado, KS.<ref name="Obituary of Lucretia Bogardus">Obituary</ref> She was the daughter of George and Lucretia Emerson.

Peter died at the hospital at 6:15 pm on February 18, 1923. His son, Henry, was notified and Peter's remains were shipped to Eldorado, KS.<ref name="National Military Home, Delaware, KS">National Military Home Records</ref>
