Jacob Auchampaugh was born on October 29, 1774, a son of Peter Achenbach and Annatie Settle<ref name="Bernehistory">Bernehistory.org</ref>

On July 27, 1794 he married Maria or Mary Turk who was born on January 25, 1777 in Ulster County, NY, a daughter of Anthony Turk and Rachael Van Aken<ref name="Bernehistory">Bernehistory.org</ref>. They had the following known children:
*Sarah (Sally) Auchampaugh b. March 5, 1814 married [[Benjamin Lee]] <ref name="Bernehistory"/>
*Jacob Auchampaugh b. September 25, 1811 married [[Maria Snyder]] <ref name="Bernehistory"/>
*Levi Auchampaugh b. November 5, 1804 married Rhoda Wilbur<ref name="Bernehistory"/>

Jacob died on November 24, 1843. Mary died on August 25, 1850. They were buried at Lee Church Cemetery in Knox. Mary’s marker no longer exists.
