- ↑ Roscoe's History of Schoharie says that about 1771 “William and John Dietz, of Beaver Dam, sons of Johannes Dietz who was massacred by the Indians in 1782, at the latter place,” purchased land north of Fox Creek between the creek and Garlock’s Dorf. [The William (Jr.) and John who bought the land in Schoharie were actually sons of William, Sr., (1720-1782) brother of Johannes. (Research of Harold Miller)]
